Christmas Kayak Expedition on The Zambezi Rivers Batoka Gorge, for young people
About the Zambezi
The Zambezi is simply the dream river; there is just no other place like it on the planet. From northern Zambia, the Zambezi River travels south dividing Zimbabwe and Zambia across the flat plains, until it arrives at Victoria Falls. It is here that the Zambezi drops into the stunning volcanic Batoka Gorge and begins a whole new journey of adventure and beauty. The Zambezi offers great kayaking for paddlers of all levels.
Introduction
The team at KARA Expeditions would like to give a small group of six young paddlers aged fifteen to eighteen the opportunity to come and paddle with us on our 2006 Zambezi young peoples paddling programme. This trip is aimed at young paddlers who are motivated and wish to develop their paddling skills along with personal development and experience some of Africa's unique culture first hand.
Though our programme is focused on water time, we feel that it is important to take some time to look at some of Africa's local traditions along with the splendid beauty of the surrounding area. We will take a short day trip in to Zambia's Mosi O Tunya National Park to view wildlife along with local village tours, cultural evenings of dancing and other customs.

In late December the Zambezi is at an optimal play level, there are many waves to play on from the famous put in waves at rapid number two, the big bouncing surf ride of number three, huge air time at number eight, the list goes on.
The KARA Expeditions Zambezi youth program will be headed up by Deb Pinniger and another member of our KARA team, who have both spent many seasons paddling and working on the Zambezi River at all water levels.
Paddlers wishing to come on this trip will need to be competent class three plus- four kayakers with a solid roll and have a good level of physical fitness.
